Pengaruh Lingkungan Keluarga dan Status Sosial Ekonomi terhadap Prestasi Akademik Peserta didik Kelas V UPTD SDN Banyuajuh 2

Abstract

This qualitative case study was conducted to investigate the influence of family environment and socioeconomic status on the academic achievement of Grade V-A students at UPTD SDN Banyuajuh 2. Data were collected through structured and semi-structured interviews with the homeroom teacher, subject teachers, and students, as well as direct classroom observations. The findings reveal that family plays a critical role in students' academic success by acting as facilitators, motivators, supervisors, and character educators. Students who receive strong moral and learning support at home tend to perform better academically. Moreover, socioeconomic status significantly affects students’ access to educational resources and parental involvement. Although students from higher socioeconomic backgrounds generally have better academic performance, motivated students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds can also excel with adequate support. A comparison of students’ performance in English and Pancasila Education subjects highlights differences in student engagement, which are influenced by content familiarity and teaching methods. The study concludes that responsive, inclusive teaching strategies and supportive learning environments are essential to accommodate diverse student needs and backgrounds.
