Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has significantly influenced children’s daily lives, particularly elementary school-aged students who are increasingly exposed to gadgets. While gadgets provide educational benefits and access to information, excessive and uncontrolled use may pose serious risks to children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. This study aims to analyze the dangers of gadget use among elementary school children in the digital generation era and to identify preventive efforts that can be implemented by parents and schools. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through literature review, observation, and interviews with teachers and parents of elementary school students. The data were analyzed using interactive analysis techniques, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that excessive gadget use leads to decreased learning concentration, reduced social interaction, emotional instability, and health problems such as eye strain and sleep disorders. However, proper supervision, time management, and educational guidance can minimize these negative impacts. Therefore, collaboration between parents, teachers, and schools is crucial to ensure that gadget use supports children’s development rather than hindering it.
