Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Think Pair Share (TPS) model based on the Reciprocal Teaching (RT) approach on students' spelling and punctuation writing skills. This research is motivated by the initial state of spelling and punctuation writing skills of third-grade elementary school students, which have not been maximized. This type of research is quantitative experimental with a Quasi-Experimental design in the form of a -Equivalent Control Group Design. The population in this study was 112 third-grade students at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Alternatif, with a sample of 56 students divided into an experimental class and a control class, each consisting of 28 students. Sampling was conducted using the Purposive Sampling technique based on specific criteria in accordance with the research objectives. The results showed a significant effect of the TPS model based on the RT approach on students' writing skills. This is proven by the parametric Independent Samples T-Test results, which show a Sig. (2-tailed) value < 0.001 and an increase in the average pretest to test score in the experimental class from 86 to 93.
